HOB 15

Opposite a green public square on the Paul Vekemanslaan in Hoboken, Reno-Art nv is developing an empty corner plot. In terms of building volume, we searched for a connection with the two adjacent streets while adding an accent on the corner of the plot. Within the volume, the residential units are focused as much as possible on the opposite green square and back garden. White concrete horizontal strips in the façade accentuate the building layers, in which floor-to-ceiling windows and terraces are recessed between these strips. We used contrast in color as well as in texture, light gray hand-molded brick alternates with white smooth concrete, which in turn contrasts with the anthracite windows and black-stained wood of the bicycle shed. The underground parking garage is located partly under the garden at the back of the building volume. Above the parking garage a garden is planted and furnished as a communal garden for all residents. In this way we tried to maximize contact with the surrounding green environment both on the front and at the back.
