MM 15

At the request of a young couple with child, this house was designed on the only remaining free plot in a quiet alotment with exclusively detached houses. In contrast to almost all the houses along this side of the street, where the rear façade is completely oriented towards the north, the house was planted transversely to the street. This created a southeast-oriented side garden that made it possible to have sunlight in the living areas and kitchen throughout the whole day. Both in color and texture contrasts were sought. A red sintered hand shaped brick was used next to smooth black aluminum plating and exterior joinery. The inside of the house has white walls and a polished concrete floor in contrast with custom made cupboards in wild oak on the ground floor and an oak parquet floor on the first floor. The house is built around a large double-height dining and living space. All other rooms were arranged around this central void, creating a very open and connected feeling without losing sight of the necessary privacy.
